Abstract

Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde explores the human psyche where the conflict between good and evil is at work. At the end of the novella, the suicide of Jekyll is obvious to restore the psycho-social order which was disrupted by the advent of evil. This paper explicates how the order was disrupted and the death of Jekyll restores that order because Dr. Jekyll is in a position that he wants to reverse but finds the situation irreversible.
